2016 UK Awards for Biological Recording & Information Sharing

Nominate an exceptional biological recorder or group for the 2016 UK Awards for Biological Recording & Information Sharing

In their second year, these national awards have been set up by the National Biodiversity Network in partnership with the Biological Records Centre and the National Forum for Biological Recording and are generously sponsored by Swarovski Optik UK. They seek to recognise significant achievement and to celebrate success in biological recording.

You can nominate individuals or groups who have, for example, taken part in a BioBlitz, recorded specific species that they are interested in or just been involved in biological recording in one way or another. They may even have developed a piece of technology, such as games or apps to help and encourage participation in recording. 

There are five categories:

• Gilbert White adult award for terrestrial and freshwater wildlife recording
• Gilbert White youth award for terrestrial and freshwater wildlife recording
• David Robertson adult award for marine and coastal wildlife recording
• David Robertson youth award for marine and coastal wildlife recording
• Lynne Farrell group award for wildlife recording

Nominating someone for an award couldn’t be simpler. Just complete the Awards nomination form and E-mail it to NBN.

A ‘top tip’ from the Awards Committee is to give more detail about your nominee(s) and their achievements – about how your nominee is making a difference and the impact of their involvement in biological recording (up to a maximum of 500 words).
